Daniel Apt
President – San Clemente, Ca (Trestles)
Daniel Apt is founder and President of Olaunu. He has over 30 years of experience in stormwater management, water quality, water resources, and coastal zone management and specializes in green stormwater infrastructure, stormwater capture and use, watershed and integrated water planning, stormwater credit programs, MS4 permit assistance and program development, BMP planning and design for developments including Low Impact Development (LID) and stormwater training. Daniel received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine, and his Master’s degree from the University of Miami. Daniel is former Chair of the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA), is a co-founder/co-lead of the Stormwater Credit Think Tank, and since 2021 has served as the Chair of the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP) Certification Committee. His passion for improving surface water and ocean water quality and the environment stems from being a surfer, waterman, and nature hiker.
Tom Bonigut
Principal/Senior Engineer – Sonoma, Ca
Tom Bonigut has more than 34 years of primarily public agency as well as private sector experience. He is a Professional Engineer (Civil), CA #53961, and public works executive management professional that has led technical, administrative, and skilled trades professionals to develop and deliver numerous projects, programs and services. Tom has developed expertise in the following areas: BMP stormwater retrofits, green infrastructure, capital project & program management; strategic planning; community & government relations; consensus building; policy & procedure development; budget development & administration; grants management; citizen engagement; contract negotiation & administration; and staff development and training.
Mary Vondrak
Project Manager – San Clemente, Ca (Trestles)
Mary Vondrak is a Project Manager at Olaunu with more than 20 years of experience leading complex environmental compliance, watershed management, and water quality initiatives for municipalities, public agencies, and private-sector clients. Recognized for her ability to navigate evolving regulatory requirements and deliver practical, results-driven solutions, her expertise includes NPDES permit compliance, regional watershed planning, green infrastructure implementation, stormwater program management, and workforce development training. Mary is a respected leader within California’s stormwater industry and currently serves as Conference Subcommittee Co-Chair for the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA). Drawing on extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, she provides strategic guidance that enables clients to meet regulatory obligations, reduce risk, secure funding opportunities, and advance meaningful, long-term environmental and community resilience goals.
Brad Parks
Regional Manager, South America/Vice President – Berlin, Maryland (Assateague)
Brad Parks is an engineer, environmental modeler, and oceanographer with over 22 years of experience in the environmental science fields, working on behalf of both government and private clients in the US and abroad. He has collected, analyzed, modeled, and presented data to support infrastructure planning, ecological and human health risk assessments, remedial investigations and feasibility studies (RI/FSs), and natural resource damage assessments (NRDAs). Mr. Parks utilizes “state-of-the-science” tools and mathematical models to solve complex environmental problems. His experience includes projects which cross multiple scientific disciplines (strategies for remediation, ecology, oceanography, environmental chemistry, biology, etc.). His technical expertise includes data management, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, and computer programming. Research interests include sustainable solutions, whole-systems design, population modeling, data assimilation, near-shore ocean eddy dynamics, and probabilistic risk assessment.
Christopher Kuchinke
Regional Manager, Australasia and South Pacific – Hobart, Australia (Howrah Beach)
Christopher Kuchinke is the Regional Manager of Olaunu in Australasia and the South Pacific. He brings to Olaunu 26 years of experience as a physicist and environmental scientist in Australia and USA. Over the years, Chris has embraced the following mantra:
To improve activities that produce services to measure or correct environmental damage to air, water and soil as well as problems related to waste, noise and ecosystems. This includes services that reduce environmental risk and minimize pollution and resource use.
Christopher obtained a doctorate in atmospheric physics from the University of Tasmania, then spent four years as a Research Scientist at the Atmospheric and Ocean Optics Group, University Of Miami. He then moved into an Environmental Science and Regulatory role in government for the next seven years at the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) in Tasmania, Australia. This pathway led to a senior project management role in Business Systems and Communications Management for the same organization. Today, he lives with his wife and children in Australia and facilitates Olaunu’s footprint in the South Pacific.
